BONNIE LOWE JONES

TRIAL ATTORNEY & COUNSELOR AT LAW
 
 
Ms. Jones is originally from Savannah, Georgia. With the exception of her time at Tulane School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana, she has been a life-long resident of Georgia.
 
 
Educational Background

In 1996, Ms. Jones graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Armstrong State College in Savannah, Georgia.

 

She also obtained two minor degrees in History and Legal Studies. While at Armstrong, Ms. Jones was on the Dean's List, acted as a contributing editor and columnist on the "Inkwell", served as the school's representative for the 26th National Symposium on the Study of the Presidency in Washington, D.C., and was an active member of Phi Alpha Theta. 

Ms. Jones graduated with her Juris Doctor degree from Tulane School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2000. Her activities while at Tulane included membership in the Business
Law Society and participation in the Trial Advocacy Program. In addition, she worked as a student attorney with the New Orleans Pro Bono Project (Family Assistance Center).



Career History
Ms. Jones began her career in Savannah as a general practitioner handling civil litigation and criminal defense cases.

 

In 2006, she relocated to Cumming, Georgia and joined the law firm of Jarrard & Davis, L.P. as an Assistant County Attorney where she specialized in defending §1983 actions brought against various county governments.

 

After leaving Jarrard & Davis, Ms. Jones associated with Steven Leibel, formerly of Casey Gilson Leibel, P.C. Mr. Leibel is renowned for holding the current record for the largest jury verdict award in the history of Georgia ($776 million for the wrongful death of former Dekalb County Sheriff-Elect Derwin Brown).
 
In June of 2007, Ms. Jones and Steven Leibel obtained a jury verdict award in the amount of almost $1.2 million against the Georgia Department of Transportation for the wrongful death of a 67 year old woman. This verdict currently stands as the largest in Dawson County's history.
 
Shortly thereafter, Ms. Jones established Jones Law, LLC.

 


Memberships & Admissions

Ms. Jones is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia. She is also is a member of the State Bar's Trial Practice Section and Family Law Section. Moreover, she is certified by the American Arbitration Association.

 
She is admitted to practice before all state and superior courts throughout Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for both the Southern and Northern Districts of Georgia.

 

Previously, Ms. Jones has appeared as a guest lecturer at Winthrop University as part of a series entitled "Social Work and the Law".
 


Legal Experience

Ms. Jones has over ten years of active, hands-on trial experience in handling both civil and criminal litigation.
 
Some of Ms. Jones' career accomplishments include: a jury verdict in her favor on behalf of a customer assaulted by store owners; favorable settlement on behalf of a hot-air balloon passenger for injuries sustained as the result of a crash landing; six-figure settlement against a private utility company for personal injuries to a minor child arising from his being run over by a trailer; favorable settlement against a major retailer for wrongful arrest and malicious prosecution; and favorable settlement against a chemical company for personal injury to a security guard caused by inhalation of toxic fumes.
 
She has also acted as a criminal defense attorney and obtained not guilty verdicts for clients charged with various criminal charges, including fraud and aggravated assault. Additionally, she participated in the recent Cherokee County illegal immigration ordinance suit.

Jim Jones acts as both Investigator and Client Relations Administrator for the firm. A former Georgia Southern Business Administration major, he has a significant background in both business and finance. Formerly affiliated with Pioneer Credit Corporation, Lehrner Avionics, Inc., and the United States Department of Defense, Mr. Jones has also acted as a planning and security consultant.
 
In addition, he has significant prior experience as an independent business consultant and investigator / auditor. His skills include marketing and planning for start-up companies, comparative profit and loss analyses for existing entities, and loss prevention strategy.
 
As a professional member of Jones Law, LLC, he acts as primary contact for all matters related to finance and marketing. Mr. Jones is also called upon to lend his investigatory expertise on a case-by-case basis.
